Small Steps Have a Big Impact!

At Futures Supplies we recognise that our business activities have an unavoidable impact on the environment. Our approach is therefor to support the environment by continually striving to make it part of our ethos to reduce the creation of waste through recycling.

This approach is applied throughout our organisation and through third parties involved in, or with our business, in such a way to facilitate the protection of the environment. We are committed wherever possible and practicable to sustainable practices, encouraging similar standards from all customers, suppliers, and contractors on environmental matters.

As part of this commitment to reduce, reuse, and recycle, we strategically segregate all our scrap plastic film waste such as stretch pallet wrap, pallet covers and plastic packaging.

This plastic waste is collected on pallets by our supply partners and reprocessed into recycled pellet ready to be re blown into new films for reuse in the recycled range of refuse sacks we sell thereby closing the recycling loop.

We have also successfully implemented measures to reduce and recycling all of our paper, card and plastics. Our printer cartridges are recycled and postage stamps are recycled through the Royal National Institute of Blind People.

Regularly independently audited and recognised with numerous green accolades, we currently recycle over 75% of our waste, proving small steps can have a big impact!

Are Your Deliveries Carried Out by A Carbon Neutral Certified Company?

As an ethical business, our ethos is to deliver service, quality, value, reliability, with a commitment to environmental sustainability, using the most up to date technology and innovation.

Futures Supplies are committed to integrity and transparency in the way we operate, how we supply goods and services and in our business partnerships.

We believe that whilst it is critical, it is not enough to just reduce carbon emissions through our certified Environmental Management System BS EN ISO 14001:2015 targets. Therefore, we offset our unavoidable emissions through our partnership with The CarbonNeutral® Company in a responsible best practice model.

Unfortunately, we all have to use energy as part of our commercial process and therefore, until technology and innovations can provide more answers to help further reduce or eliminate emissions, ‘offsetting’ is the only way to deal with the problem.

In partnership with The CarbonNeutral® Company, Futures Supplies is delighted to have achieved CarbonNeutral® status since 2006. This accreditation positions us as an industry leader with one of the strongest and most credible approaches to climate change.

As a result of our reduction process coupled with measuring the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and offsetting the unavoidable emissions associated with our business, our carbon footprint is reduced to net zero.

Making a Clear and Credible Commitment – Celebrating Ten Years of Certification!

Futures Supplies is delighted to have its green credentials independently endorsed for the tenth year running achieving the credible and sought after Carbon Neutral certification.

This is a highly sought after accolade and recognises the company as an industry leader in its field for its environmental commitment and for delivering carbon neutral supplies to its customers.

We are proud to be taking a net zero position on emissions by measuring the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with our business, reducing them at source and then offsetting any unavoidable emissions by purchasing carbon credits.

Supporting the Andipatti Wind Power Project located in the state of Tamil Nadu, India, this 49.5MW wind power project delivers zero-emissions renewable electricity to the Southern regional grid. The project is validated and ‘Verified Carbon Standard’ (VCS).

This wind farm consists of 30 Vestas turbines, each of capacity of 1.65 MW, generating approximately 100,000 MWh of clean renewable electricity annually. This reduces CO2 emissions by displacing electricity which would have otherwise been drawn primarily from fossil fuel power stations; subsequently, the Andipatti Wind Power Project generates 90,000 tonnes of emissions reductions on average per year.

Demonstrating our commitment to reducing CO2 in accordance with leading edge quality assurance standards, the CarbonNeutral trademark is one of the worlds most recognised and robust brand marks for greenhouse gas emission reduction.

As a result of this reduction process coupled with offering the unavoidable emissions associated with our business, our carbon footprint is reduced to net zero.

CarbonNeutral Certificate 2016

A Tree For Futures Supplies!

Katrin Tree CertificateTaking part in Katrin’s recent tree planting campaign whilst attending Interclean in Amsterdam, we are delighted that Metsa has decided to support a reforestation project in so-called ‘Krattwald’ in Handeloh (North Lower Saxony, Germany). The area is known for its old, overgrown oak trees spreading over approx. 2,000 sqm.

To regenerate and preserve this 150 year old population, young oak and yew trees are going to be planted during peak planting season in fall and we are excited that our tree has been planted!

Celebrating Gold Certification from Carbon Smart

Carbon Smart Gold AwardSustainability is at the heart of Futures Supplies’ business. Its recent partnership with Carbon Smart aims at engaging people inside and outside our business, understanding and managing risk and impact, reducing resource use, eliminating waste and making sustainability part of our customer and supplier relationships.

To take a proactive stance and address our contribution to climate change, Futures Supplies has committed to the Carbon Smart Programme. Being Carbon Smart means taking an intelligent and flexible approach to reducing our carbon footprint.

Our Carbon Smart Gold Certification demonstrates the practical actions we have taken to actively reduce our environmental impact. It clearly demonstrates our commitment to customers, staff and suppliers. Just like recycling, the Carbon Smart Certification makes improving our environmental performance part of the everyday running of our business.

Having the accreditation ensures business commitment, activities and achievements in sustainability through three stages, Carbon Smart Blue, Silver and Gold and is considered a celebration of accomplishments.

Well done all the team for this recognition of our continued commitment to all things green!

Celebrating Quality and Environmental Re-Certification Since 1997

ISO 9001 & 14001 CertificatesFutures Supplies is delighted to have successfully gained re-certification to BS EN ISO 14001 and BS EN ISO 9001:2008 for a further 3 years until 2015 for its environmental and Quality Management systems.

To gain and maintain certification, Futures Supplies ensures legislative compliance, records information on the operation of its QMS and EMS and demonstrates continual improvement. Increased credibility comes from regular independent assessment to ensure its Environmental and Quality Management System continues to meet and exceed the requirements of the standard.

We all want to have confidence in the goods and services that we use. Trust is essential whether in the high street, the supermarket or buying as a business.

Accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is key to ensuring that consumers, suppliers, purchasers and specifiers can have confidence in the quality of goods and in the provision of services throughout the supply chain.

UKAS accreditation means the evaluator can show to its customers that it has been successful at meeting the requirements of international accreditation standards.

This means that our customers reduce the risk of selecting an incompetent evaluator and paying for, or more seriously, acting upon invalid results. Too many of Britain’s companies run the risk of undermining their long-term success by purchasing independent evaluations that are not UKAS accredited.

Futures Supplies’ credentials are endorsed by certification to BS EN ISO 14001 and BS EN ISO 9001 through Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

Accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), DNV, established in 1864 is dedicated to the principle of safeguarding life, property and the environment.

Award winning and customer focused, we at Futures Supplies, hope our consistency of approach, endorsed by recognised accredited third parties, makes us a trustworthy, dependable and credible choice, to deliver both quality and sustainability throughout our business processes and services.

Kimberly-Clark Selects Ecolabel as its Label of Choice

EU Ecolabel LogoReducing environmental impact through its supply chain is one of Futures Supplies’ key objectives as part of its environmental commitment, endorsed by its independent certification to BS EN ISO 14001.

Futures Supplies supply partner Kimberly-Clark has recently selected the European Ecolabel as its label of choice. The criteria for measuring performance are closely aligned with their approach to sustainability. Striving to ensure our products do what you need them to do whilst considering ways to reduce the environmental impact at each stage of the product life cycle, the Ecolabel analyses the impact of the product throughout its life cycle making it a good strategical fit.

The European Ecolabel is your guarantee of responsible manufacturing from “cradle to grave”. The environmental criteria behind the Ecolabel are tough, and products are measured against more than one element. They are measured and analysed on performance against the impact of the product on the environment throughout its life cycle, starting from extraction of raw materials in the pre-production stage, through to production, distribution and disposal of the product. Only products which meet these strict environmental standards are entitled to use the Ecolabel – giving consumers a label they can genuinely trust.

To find out which products are in the Eco bundle and carry the Ecolabel Certification, visit our website now where you can also find listed some of the commonly found ‘green labels’, ‘green logos’ and ‘ecolabels’, along with further explanations and links to the organisations responsible for the claims.
