New recycling legislation for businesses in England with 10 or more employees is coming in March 2025.
The new legislation requires businesses to separate dry mixed recyclables and food waste from general waste, so it’s presented separately for collection by an approved contractor.
This is all part of the UK’s drive to improve recycling and meet its overall sustainability and net zero commitments. It’s going to be a big change for sure!
Put simply, most businesses will need to separate paper, plastic, glass and metal waste from their food and general waste, and, if they don’t, they may face fines so it’s important we all do our part.
Legislation is already in place in Scotland since 2014 and was recently introduced by Wales earlier this year, and while all legislation isn’t the same it brings the UK much closer together.
By staying informed and acting now, your business can set a positive example and be at the forefront of environmentally-friendly waste management.
